Improving care for Heart Attack Patients
EmergyCare is currently working to secure funding for a project WE KNOW is saving lives! This technology provides EmergyCare paramedics with a better "picture" of a patient's cardiac activity allowing them to recognize and treat heart attack patients quicker. They are also able to transmit vital cardiac information to physicians in the hospital allowing them to prepare for each patient's unique needs prior to their arriving in the emergency department. It is said that "time is heart muscle" for patients suffering a heart attack. When time is reduced from the onset of the patient's symptoms until their blocked vessel is opened, cardiac tissue is preserved and lives are often saved. The technology EmergyCare is working to maintain saves these patients precious moments by giving emergency room physicians advanced notice when cardiac patients are en route. Your gift helps to ensure that this equipment is available to each and every patient who needs it. With your help, the damage caused by a heart attack can be lessened; lives can be saved!
Emergency vehicle replacement
EmergyCare's vehicles travel more than 1.5 MILLION miles each year! Our ambulances respond to nearly 100 EMERGENCIES EACH DAY spanning more than 5,600 square miles. Consider for a moment the constant wear and tear these vehicles are subjected to being in use all day, every day! This, coupled with the fact that EmergyCare has more vehicles on the street than the City of Philadelphia EMS, makes vehicle maintenance and replacement one of our largest expenses. Our financial need is so great because nearly 75% of our patients utilize state or federal medical assistance or have no insurance at all. EmergyCare is currently only able to collect an average of $0.46 of every $1.00 billed. Imagine operating a business where loosing money is not a possibility, but a certainty. Necessities, such as replacing 10-year-old ambulances with more than 250,000 miles have become nearly insurmountable financial tasks without community support. We are a non-profit service with no tax dollar revenue. Over the past two years we have served as industry advocates, educating our elected officials on the financial crisis the EMS community is facing and what can be done to help remedy our challenges. As an organization, we have gained the support of our local, state and federal representatives. Along with approaching government officials, we have worked diligently in boosting our resource development activities. We regularly seek grants from local and national foundations. Despite our financial challenges, we take our responsibility of being there for you very seriously. Your support is crucial! Education
At EmergyCare, we pride ourselves in being one of the most experienced groups of pre-hospital healthcare providers in the region! We have been caring for our neighbors in need since 1983! We attribute our excellence in care to our experience and also our education. EmergyCare Training Institute is the most experienced PA Department of Health accredited training institute in the Erie Region. We offer a full range of classes from basic CPR to Advanced Cardiac Life Support and paramedic training. You can be a part of making sure that EmergyCare's EMTs and paramedics continue to be their very best!
